The swine flu has become a huge discussion among people from all around the world because of its mysterious appearance and increasing death tool caused by this illness. The United Nations has recently declared it as a pandemic. The truth is, there is nothing to worry about because the swine flu virus is a milder influenza virus strain which is known as the common cold. You probably do not know this, but there are hundred of thousand of people find themselves to have common cold every year. It continues to cause death because there is no proper treatment were being done to take care of this illness.

The swine flu can affect anyone regardless of their age and gender but people who are healthy will not have any problem to fight the virus and recover in about one week. There will be breathing difficulties and severe body ache to deal with so that is why people with weaker and less active immune system are becoming the victim of this flu. This usually occur among those who are 2 age group, where the first group are those below 15 years old and the second group are people who are above 55.

Another group that has high risk to get swine flu infection is pregnant women. They are vulnerable to this virus because of their weakened immune system.

The 4th groups of people who are at higher risk developing severe swine flu symptoms are those with diabetes, serious heart disease and people with weakened immune system because of going through cancer treatments.

Chronic liver and kidney disease patients are known to be vulnerable against H1N1 because they have weaker body immune system to produce the H1N1 antibodies.

People who are between 25 to 45 years old are considered to have lower chance to be affected by the swine flu. This is because their body is stronger and is able to produce H1N1 antibodies that are required to fight this virus.

Those who are under 5 years old and above 60 years old must be treated with vaccine immediately to boost their immune system against the swine flu. Cutting down on social interaction is a good swine flu prevention strategy.

The virus is known to cause mild symptoms among the general public so far, vaccinating the high-risk groups is seen as the best way to protect others from this virus. In fact, social and frontline health workers will be vaccinated together with high risk groups.

The WHO has recently changed its advice concerning the swine flu antiviral usage where only people with serious complication should be treated with it while healthy individuals are not required to take it.

In UK however, the Tamiflu has been used by many as the treatment for swine flu. This is because their Department of Health believes in a safety-first approach to tackle on this issue.

We should be thankful that the swine flu did not spread very rapidly. it is not very deadly like Ebola but swine flu can still kill you.
