We live in a world of consumerism. People make products that sell and that are in demand. The recent years have seen an increase in the sales of food products or supplements in the form of pills that supposedly promote fat loss. Losing fat and reducing fat has become some kind of a fad today with everyone wanting to have a chiseled body that movie stars and models brazenly exhibit. In this scenario, there is a huge debate going on as to which kinds of foods promote fat loss. Are vegetarian foods or non-vegetarian foods that make you lose fat and weight?

Let us look at vegetarian foods first. Vegetables are a very healthy food source with all vital nutrients and minerals present in it. Vegetables are easily digestible and also assimilate faster into the body. Nutritionists advocate eating vegetables in plenty to lose weight and keep fit. All vegetables are generally safe as regards weight loss except certain types. Root vegetables like potatoes and sweet potatoes have high carb content and this might hamper weight loss. Excessive carbohydrate intake will cause weight gain if the carbs are not burned and used optimally. Some vegetables also produce sugar, which might again promote weight gain. Eating vegetables like pulses, peas and soya beans will increase the muscle ratio of your body as they all contain high amounts of protein.

Non-vegetarian foods like meat and fish contain high protein content. Meat items like mutton, beef and pork also contain high amounts of fat, which is highly dangerous and also weight adders. Chicken is a good protein source and a lean meat type, if the skin is taken off. The fat in chicken is stored in its skin mainly and taking it off makes the chicken a very healthy protein source. Fish is probably the best food type when it comes to eating non-vegetarian foods. The white of an egg can be eaten, as it is high in protein while the yolk contains fat and cholesterol. Thus you can see that both non-vegetarian and vegetarian food sources offer us fat loss benefits but it also depends on how you cook them that is of paramount importance. Having them boiled and eaten is way better than deep frying, as deep frying in fat only makes you pack on the calories and fat. All said and done, whatever food you eat, if not combined with a regular exercise regimen will not offer any fat loss benefits at all.
