How could you know if you are pregnant or not? There are many symptoms of pregnancy to watch for. Every pregnancy is different, and thus each “would be” mom show different pregnancy signs. For some mothers the pregnancy symptoms may start appearing soon after the conception. Below are some of the signs of pregnancy:

  • Missed Period – It is one of the most familiar pregnancy signs. Women generally have the standard 28-day period’s cycle; if they conceive, their period does not arrive after one cycle. The basal body temperatures may rise for 15 or more days accompanying the missed period. This can point to a pregnancy or it may be because of an illness or trauma. However a few women may face implantation bleeding around the date of their period, but it is lighter than their usual period.
  • Frequent Urination – Frequent urination is also a very common symptom of pregnancy. However it also denotes the urine infection at times.
  • Morning Sickness – This symptom may begin after two to four weeks of conceiving. The sickness may include the feeling of nausea, vomiting and headaches sometimes. The feeling of nausea and vomiting though may continue throughout the day. This symptom of pregnancy generally is worst during the first three months of pregnancy. After the completion of first trimester morning sickness subsides gradually. The degree of the sickness may vary from woman to woman. At the smallest level it is just the feeling of nausea but the severe cases, it may lead to stern dehydration.
  • Breast soreness – Breast soreness usually starts after three to four weeks of conception as they are getting prepared to feed your tiny tot. However this can also be a symptom of your approaching menstrual date. Some women may also feel a slight increased breast size, tingling and swelling around the nipple. The nipple gets larger and darker during the pregnancy. There may be enlarged and leaking areolas too.
  • Headaches – During the pregnancy there are several changes in hormones that may cause headaches. However, this is not essentially a pregnancy sign.
  • Vaginal Discharge – A minor raise in vaginal discharge is a symptom of pregnancy if it does not burn, smell, or itch. If it accompanies itching, burning, or smelling, it may be a sign of infectivity and must be cured at the earliest.
  • Food and smell Aversions – Food and smell aversion is another one of the most common symptoms of pregnancy. This symptom generally appears very early. Women facing this symptom may find their favorite food suddenly start making them feel nauseated. A sharp sense of smelling may cause some smells to seem sharper than normal. The smell aversions generally cause the food aversions.

However these symptoms of pregnancy are painful but are easily curable. All of these symptoms lessens or subsides by the beginning of second trimester. If these symptoms suddenly disappear before the tenth week of pregnancy then you must inform your doctor immediately as it may denote some complications in pregnancy.

The only thing I have observed is that I usually get dizzy and nauseous when I’m pregnant. The morning sickness thing kicks in during the 1st month to the 2nd month and sometimes stretches all the way to 3 months. But motherhood is the best thing that ever happened to me and all the pain is worth it.
