Symptoms of high blood pressure or hypertension can sometimes go unnoticed and you might be having high blood pressure without you even knowing it. So what exactly is high blood pressure? It is nothing but the force with which the blood hits the walls of the arteries while it travels around the body. The blood pressure surely goes up and down throughout the day, and it is very much normal, the problem starts to happen when it stays up and dosenot comes down.

Why is high blood pressure bad – While the blood pressure is high, it can cause damage to the blood vessels, can cause serious damage to the heart and lead to heart attack or stroke or even damage the kidneys. All this might happen quietly inside you and you would not knew about anything until its already late, because all this can happen without much of a visual symptoms.

How is blood pressure measured – blood pressure is measured in two units, the first one is systolic which shows how hard the blood is pushing when the heart is pumping, 120 is the ok number for it and diastolic which is how hard the blood pushes between heart beats and 80 is healthy. When high blood pressure happens it goes up to 149/90 or more.

Causes of high blood pressure – There can be many causes of high blood pressure; here are a few of those:

  • Eating too much salt.
  • Family history of high blood pressure patients.
  • Drinking and/or smoking.
  • Over weight or lack of exercise.
  • Old Age.
  • Not eating enough of potassium and calcium.

Symptoms of high blood pressure – Lets now come back to our topic, and discuss the symptoms of high blood pressure. As I was speaking earlier, there might not be enough clear symptoms of high blood pressure as it is all very silent.

If it is not treated in time, high blood pressure can damage your kidneys, cause heart attack or stroke, damage brain, eyes. Other problems can be vision loss, vomiting, headache etc.

Treatment of high blood pressure – go visit a doctor and on your part, you can just take care of the things listed on the causes list.
