Symptoms of depression are not easily seen; rather it’s pretty hard to tell whether the symptoms are of depression or any other disease. Feeling down or sad is a normal thing for us humans and its not something to worry about, the problems start when the symptom persists. Sadness is a very common thing and one must try to understand that the feeling is just sadness or its emptiness or worse. Here are some symptoms, which can be related to depression:
- Unusual weight loss or weight gain – this can also be seen as an interest in eating more or eating less than usual.
- Attention problems – You forget things, can’t focus or get unusually worried or exited about things.
- Low self esteem – Losing self-esteem or not feeling worthy of yourself.
- Sleep disorders – over sleeping or not getting enough sleep.
- Tired and lazy – you might act lazy or feel excess tiredness, even moving around for simple everyday tasks might look heavy work.
All these symptoms can be tied with other diseases or can simply be neglected, though if it persists for weeks then a medical check up is a must. Specially if the one suffering from the symptoms of depression starts to think absolutely negatively like a feeling of emptiness or feeling unworthy of. This could lead to the feeling of death and suicide and it becomes very serious at this stage.
It is not about how many or how bad the symptoms are; the best thing to do is, always consult a doctor. The sooner you visit a doctor the better recovery you will make and that can also avoid some serious problems that you might end up into.
