Yoga of prana is better known as Kundalini yoga. Now the question arises, what is prana? Prana in simple words is the life energy within us. The aim of the seeker while performing Kundalini Yoga is to connect with tremendous power within through the path of meditation and concentration. One can also define kundalini yoga as command of Mother Aspect of the godly powers. When compared to other yoga asana, Kundalini yoga stands tall as one need to take special care and attention while performing it. The seeker may get into trouble as this immensely powerful yoga can cause harms when performed in a wrong manner. Hence, a spiritual teacher with vast knowledge in the field is a must guide for the seeker.

The postures and poses, which are taught in Kundalini yoga, are designed in a manner that they stimulate organs, glands and awareness level of the body. This yoga is also meant to provide a calm and peaceful base for mind, which is in a state ready to meditate. The asanas in Kundalini yoga are deliberated in a manner that they apply adequate pressure on points of acupressure and nerves, which in turn reflexes the brain, and produce certain mental and physical effects. To know better, let’s have a glance at some of the common asana performed in Kundalini yoga.

  • Sukasana: This is also known as the easy pose on which one sits in a position where legs are crossed comfortably. Both the feet of the person should be at the floor or at the ankles. Another thing, which needs due attention in this asana is that the lower portion of the spine shall be pressed forward so that the back is straight.

  • Siddhasana: This is also known as the perfect pose in Kundalini Yoga. In this asana the right heel of the seeker should press adjacent to the perineum while the sole should be adjacent to the left thigh. The pose that forms should place the left heel just on top of the right one.

  • Padmasana: This is also known as the lotus pose. Here in Padmasana, one has to lift the left foot and place it on the upper portion of the right thigh. The right foot should also be placed carefully on the left thigh and keep in mind it should be very close to the body, as close as one can manage. This posture relaxes the body and makes the brain calm and peaceful which is a state of mind ready to meditate.

  • Vajrasana: This pose is also known as rock pose. In this pose one needs to kneel down and sit on the heels. The top portion of the feet should be placed directly on the ground. It presses the nerves directly into the buttock center. This asana has miraculous effect on the digestive system and people believe that this makes the digestion so strong that one can digest even rocks.

  • Celibate: This pose is also known as the hero pose. In this asana one sits with feet hip wide apart and is basically meant for directing sexual energy to the spine.

All the asanas of Kundalini yoga are easy, but need strict supervision of a trained spiritual teacher. When one is in consistent touch of Kundalini yoga then believe me one will feel divine changes within. Changes may be noticed in the form of high awareness level towards divinity of nature, immense flow of blissfulness within, strength to face negative tendencies, upgraded levels of physical fitness and immunity or development of clear cut visionary power. So, if you feel that there is still something missing in your life then in spite of getting name and fame then relax and surrender yourself in the lap of kundalini yoga.
