If you come across some itchy bumps on your skin one morning, do not panic. There are many reasons as to why you would have some itchy bumps on your skin. Itchy bumps have several causes, depending on the location of the bumps on your body.
If you find some itchy bumps on your face and neck, this could be acne. It usually occurs when there is too much production of normal oil or sebum on the skin. And if there is no proper exfoliation of dead skin cells, they will clog up the hair follicle and create a bump. This itchy bump is usually caused by diet and hormonal imbalance. During stressful moments, the body undergoes hormonal change which is manifested in an acne outbreak. The wrong types of food can also bring about an overproduction of oil leading to acne. You can avoid this by washing your face well on a regular basis to ensure that there is not too much oil. You can also use topical creams with salicylic acid to stop the growth.
If you find some itchy bumps that are round in shape and in the color pink or red, this might be caused by an insect bite. They are usually very itchy as the venom of the insect has entered your body. It would help if you put some soothing balm on the itchy area. It would often go away in a day or two.
If you find various itchy bumps that are localized, this might be folliculitis. The hair follicles are inflamed causing the itchy bumps to come about. this could be caused by shaving or the friction of very tight clothing. This could also be caused by acne. Try avoiding shaving for the time being. This could be caused by some ingrown hair. Also make sure that this area is cleaned well and dried well as not to add in growth of any bacteria. Bumps like this often go away after a day or two.
If you find itchy bumps on your pubic area, this might be caused by pubic lice. They live and multiply and on the skin that grows your pubic hair. They are most commonly seen your pubic area, but they can also been found on other areas that bear hair like your armpit, scalp and even eyelashes. It can be brought about by close physical contact or wearing clothing with pubic lice. It can also be due to sexual contact. If you think you have pubic lice, you might want to see a doctor so you can be given medication at the soonest.
Itchy bumps are usually not much of a problem. They can be caused by weather and just bites. But if they persist or get itchier or become worse, you might want to go and see a doctor. You can try to put on soothing balms to calm the skin down but having a doctor check it might be the best thing in order to make sure that you do not have an underlying problem.
