Salads – Salads are much underrated as a complete food; most people think they are just filler along with a full course lunch. Salad can be a very good lunch and a complete meal; one just needs to eat enough. There are many types of salads, like the fruit salad or the vegetable salad, or a mixed type of salad with meat and fish along with the vegetables. Try to be creative, that way every day you will have a different yet healthy salad.

Sandwiches and burgers – Since we are talking health here, we should try keeping the extra fat away. Go for the lean meat, like the chicken breast for example, or perhaps the tuna or even the salmon which is so good with its omega-3 fatty acids. For the vegetarians, this can be a good option too, just make sure to keep enough broccoli and spinach inside the breads and if you are wondering about the omega-3, then try the walnuts.

Leftovers – If you are one of those that throw away the leftovers then you need a serious change in your strategy. If you or your family member liked the dinner chances are, they would like it the following morning as well. Just make sure to chop some extra salads or keep some extra roasted meat for the sandwich next day. That will save a lot of time and it also adds to the portion control which means you don’t just have to eat all the food in your dinner menu, you can save a bit of it which will help you escaping the overeating pressure and eventually help in weight loss.

Yogurt – One of the most under rated super foods, yogurt, is a pro biotic and has many health benefits. It is one of those perfect lunch food which is very healthy.

Whole fruits – Taking some whole fruits like apple, banana, berries etc. is both easy to carry and great to eat. Fruits are healthy, they taste good, take less time to eat and then they are easy to digest as well, which means you will feel considerably light after the lunch. It will make you more productive during the after lunch work hours.

Raw foods – There are certain raw foods that are easy to eat, like carrots, coconuts, nuts and dry fruits. Sprouted nuts are always a favorite. Some of the other raw vegetables that may include are beetroot, sweet potatoes, tomatoes, celery etc.

While there are many options when it comes to eating healthy food at your lunch break, the best tip is to just wake up early, at least on a few days of the week and cook a good meal for lunch. It also helps to cook and eat a good breakfast to start your day and don’t forget to carry a water bottle otherwise you will go for the sugary sodas and turn your healthy lunch into a disaster.
